Music adds quite a bit of fullness to life.
It can speak to our life and our world in eloquent ways:
Make time pass quickly.
Intensify an experience.
Excite a crowd.
Engage an audience.
Calm anxieties.
Soothe concerns.
Music can be used in most every situation.
Plus, can improve most anything – cleaning, work, driving, Saturday afternoons outside, and sex.
So I ask you -
What are the best songs to play during sex?
With a wide variety of tastes in music, this should be an interesting conversation.

I’ve actually spent quite a bit of time building playlists to suit various moods. At this point I keep going back to one album, though. The album is Beneath the Surface by Balligomingo. In second place, as of this moment anyway, is Redbird by Heather Nova. That reminds me, if you’re feeling on the kinkier side, you can’t beat Heather Nova’s song Walk This World!
Beyond that, I’ve got a couple hundred songs I could list, but I’ll spare you…
Dark Side of the Moon or anything by Parliament. That Psychadelic Funk music is a perfect blend of humor, sensuality and groove.
I also think ‘Whole Lotta Love’ by Led Zeppelin would be pretty awesome, but timing ourselves to the orgasmic climax of the song would be somewhat difficult.
Music for sex is pretty fascinating because it can be so wonderful to have a mood that you and your partner can both get lost in as you get lost in each other. However, you both have to understand it the same way. For example, both me and my partner love Radiohead, but though I find it ethereal, she finds it depressing, which doesn’t make for good mood music.
YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR HAT ON (BABY!!!!) – Joe Cocker (an absolutely delicious way to arouse your “Adam,” Miss Eve!)
I love the Motown Classics – A little Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye is never a bad thing!
I don’t have any suggestions, but I just want to say way to go on picking a fantastic image! It fits your topic so perfectly!
Van Morrison of course!
Massive Attack
Beautiful by Me’shell Ndegeocello
Nothing Fancy by Dave Barnes
The Beauty of Who You Are by Marc Broussard
bloc party, hot chip, junior boys, anything kind of electronic and dancey.
Junior Boys! I love it! Along those lines Air is pretty good along with Stars of the Lid
Lonely Night in Georgia by Marc Broussard
Home Sweet Home by Carrie Underwood
At this moment by Billy Verra and the Beaters
Love Themes by Ennio Morricone
Nine Inch Nails, believe it or not there are some beautiful instrumentals.
We prefer anything by Sade when we are going the long, passionate route. For quick down and dirty fun it’s Stevie Ray Vaughan all the way!
Never played music during sex before!!! Guess I have more growing up to do….lol…I’m taking notes!
I’m with Kathleen – great photo!
We tend to prefer instrumental music, something romantic and soothing, like projects by Liz Story or Secret Garden or a movie soundtrack like from Pride and Prejudice. OK now I feel old.
Enigma: Principles of Lust
The sountrack to the movie Troy and to the SyFy series Battlestar Galactica — and some other sountracks to movies we’ve enjoyed watching together or that invoke passion in some way.
On a lighter note: Abba Gold!
OLDIES! Sinatra, Martin, Armstrong…does that reveal my age? Oops.
And for those of you wondering, yes, we can still have sex.
Saxophone, sentimental.
This is my playlist on iTunes (called “Date Night” in case someone else gets a hold of my iPod):
“Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye (iconic!)
“Oh My God” by P!nk
“Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak
“Stroker Ace” by Lovage
“Lick” by Joi
“Rev 22-20″ by Puscifier
“I Want You” by Erykah Badu
“Gimme More” by Britney Spears
“Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz
I find music distracting during sex, but often use “Big Spender” by Peggy Lee (I think) to dance/strip to for my guy.
Gotan Project and the Garden State Soundtrack (yeah, a bit weird).
slow kylie minogue
