Good post. This word has been a huge fire started with a lot of people who wish we could change it to sound more pleasing to our ears, since it seems to be charged with a mis understood definition. Personally I think God named things what He named them on purpose and we should call them just what they are. That way, when we are not submissive, we don’t have a softer phrase to describe our sin like not partnering as well as we should be…it is hard to submit. And it even sounds unpleasant and requires more humility to admit when we are not submitting if we know that God calls it “submission” and requires it while He calls it “sin” when we don’t. Make sit easy to keep things on the level.
As a sports coach, this is the hardest thing to teach young women. Take a risk!!
