I mentioned last week that I’m about a month away from completing my second eBook – Stripped Down Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential. As it turns out, when I came up with this title I completely forgot about Tony and Alisa DiLorenzo’s new book, Stripped Down.
Upon realizing this oversight (which happened right after I hit publish on the previous post), I notified Tony and let him know I’ll be changing the title of my book. Which now leaves me with no title, only a subtitle.
Here’s where you come in.
I am looking for a new title. And, if you come up with the title I go with, I’ll send you one of the first copies of the book upon completion.
First, a bit about the book.
[Insert Title Here]: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential
A new book from Dr. Corey Allan based on his research of the basic elements necessary for a marriage to thrive. Last year, 1,028 people contributed to this study by sharing what they believe is necessary for a marriage to thrive. [Title of Book here] goes in depth about the top 10 things the research discovered.
This book is a very practical, straightforward and easy for anyone to read and apply to their marriage and/or important relationships.
[Title of Book here] covers topics like:
- Communication
- Love
- Respect
- Sex
- And many others
Plus, Part Two of the book addresses several aspects that can easily clutter marriage. Things like children, work, finances, household responsibilities, and extended family, to name a few.
Now I turn it over to you. Got any ideas?
Please leave your ideas in the comments, or you can send it to me via email.
Thanks. ~ Corey

Why not call it Simple Marriage? I know that’s your blog title, but seriously, it seems to fit the precursor to your definition of eliminating unnecessary to get to essential. That is what simple is and it is about marriage. For what it’s worth, I think that could be good. (Oh, and I just happened across your site today, so I don’t know if you already have a book titled that, so if so, yeah…
)
Elemental Marriage, or The Elements of Marriage? Or Essential Marriage (as in the essence of…)
I do enjoy naming things.
Bare Necessities? Bare Basics? Just the basics?
cleancut marriage?
bare marriage?
I hope you find your title soon! Good luck!
How about:
Focused Marriage
Back to Basics
Focusing on the Essentials
Marriage Essentials
Basic Marriage
My first thought is:
Simple Marriage – Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential
(Even though you’ve basically already used that.)
Other thoughts:
Marriage Basics
Focused Marriage
Essential Marriage (Liz Tee, I like that idea.)
A pruned back marriage…
Naked Marriage!
Or, Get Naked!
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!
Naked!
With the subtitle, enough is explained to clarify what is actually ‘naked’ (as in, stripping down marriages) but the title is still very catchy to grab readers from the get-go…..perfect!!
I was also thinking Naked Marriage!
Declutter Your Marriage
Declutter Your Relationship
The heart of it.
How about “stripped” or “bare” or “simplify” and then your subtitle.
Naked Marriage
or
Get Naked in Marriage
Marriage Straight Up: Focus on the essential and keep your relationship off the rocks!
Oooh I like that one!
Corey,
How about “Simplified: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential.”
Jim
I also enjoy the “Naked Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the *bare* essentials” if you’re ok with being a bit cheeky – though it might still be a bit too close to the DiLorenzo title – given their cover art…
What about “Unencumbered Marriage: Eliminate the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials”
“The Minimalist Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials”
“Marriage Unadorned: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials”
“Dismantle Your Marriage: Eliminate the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials”
How about “The No Frills Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential.”
How about these?
‘Rocking Marriage: Eliminate the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials’ – The work ‘rocking’ is used as a pun here. It could mean shake-it-up like ‘rocking the boat’ or something that is awesome like ‘rocking party’.
‘[Ad]Dress your marriage: Eliminate the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials’ – Again, playing with words. ‘Dress your marriage’ is on the lines of ‘dress a chicken’ where you remove the unwanted things and clean it up. ‘Address your marriage’ is like take things in your control and fix your marriage.
Pared-down Marriage
Minimalist Marriage
Minimal Marriage (provocative but not sure it gives the right impression)
Pure Marriage
Modest Marriage
on the naked theme …
Marriage Undressed (or Undressed Marriage)
I think that a title of strength is needed …ie the “Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials” Covers what is in book…so a positive title before it is needed …. cause when you look at books like this you are looking for a positive ….
Core strength of a Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials
Strengthened marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials
Guts of a marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials
Marriage of strength: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials
Powerful Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials
Empowered Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essentials
clutter free marriage
I am another fan of the naked theme now that I have seen other comments, but my first instinct was “Uncluttered Marriage.”
Barely Married? – Eliminating the unnecessary…
Sheer Bliss: Eliminating the unnecessary…
Without-End: Eliminating the unnecessary…
Marriage Uncovered: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential.
Naked Marriage, Bare Marriage, Just-the-Facts Marriage? All have some appeal. But actually I keep wanting to modify the subtitle…for instance:
Marriage Clutter: Eliminate the Unnecessary, Focus on the Essential (and There’s Less “Essential” Than You Think)
OR
: Ditch the ‘Extra,’ Focus on the Essential
Good luck!
“Untangled Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential.”
Or
“Untangled Knot: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential.”
“Untangled Knot: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential in your marriage.”
Realized I left out “marriage” completely in my last suggestion. Knot is a play on “tying the knot”
How about :
Bare Naked- Eliminating the unnecessary in your marriage, in order to focus on the essential.
sure to catch people’s eyes, if the first part is in much larger type/font!!
Okay… here’s my second title suggestion:
Marriage Uncovered: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential
or
Marriage Rediscovered: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential
Just saw Katie’s post… didn’t mean to copy your idea!
Cleaning House: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential
Back to Basics: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential
Organic Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential.
I quiet like “Marriage Rediscovered” and “Ditch the ‘Extra,’ Focus on the Essential”
I was going to make a play on the Naked theme as well, but since that has been gone over many times….
*Muck out your Marriage
*Get a Shovel
*Take out the Trash
*Distraction Free Marriage
How about…
* More Simple Marriage
* Simpler Marriage
Bare Marriage: Eliminating the unnecessary in order to expose the essential
Less stuff, more marraige.
Oooh I like that one too…
The Undressed Marriage; Eliminating the unnecessary in order to focus on the essential. This title may appeal many that may really need help in and out of the bdrm. Looking forward to the book.
