    I know the path I traveled was a difficult journey that brought me to a place that I would have never gotten to otherwise. A place where I could live in a marriage more fully alive. A place where I felt more passion and authenticity. A place where….well, you get the idea. ;-)

    It was totally worth it!

  2. I think this is a beautiful metaphor for marriage. It really isn’t about reaching some far off place — just enjoying the time together, and knowing you are together in this, as you say, journey. Thanks for the post.

  3. What a beautiful metaphor and story. Thank you for that. I would add that one of the most important factors is that you and your partner are in-sync about the journey – so it doesnt matter whether you take the 9-miles of stairs, or the 6-mile shorter route, but that you agree to walk it together and make the best of it through the challenges. Don’t regret your choices or blame your partner if the journey has a few snakes or blisters along the way.
