My wife and I were married on a Saturday, late in December. Our city’s NFL team happened to be playing a playoff game that day. It was a really close game and my best man and I were watching the game prior to the ceremony when we got word that my fiancé was ready, so we should turn off the game. The first thing that went through my mind was, “but there’s two minutes left, our opponent has the ball, and we’re only up by six.”
Thankfully I have a speech filter for comments like those. We started the ceremony on time and my Bride and I just celebrated 20 years together.
I have some friends that got married during hunting season. Every year the husband is gone hunting on their anniversary. I thought that was a real bummer.
