  1. You know what? The suggestions you gave are sexy. All those things just invite your wife into your adventure.
    Oooh la la!

I know an older man who will not have anything to do with you anymore if you ask him what he does for a living. He is now retired but that was his way for years. I guess he felt people were judging him. Sad.

What about when the wife makes more money than the man…sometimes he just can’t get over that.

  2. #4 is so important, regardless of who is the primary breadwinner. Great way to break out of the traditional thinking.

Also, this isn’t quite where you were going with these ideas, but it can help to have a side job or business. I know doing side work in a different field certainly helps me to feel less like I am my job and more like my job is just one aspect of my life.

  3. @ Laurie- This is an issue for many guys it seems, especially at first. When this happened in my household several years ago, it did take some adjusting and self talk by me to grow more comfortable in the circumstances. But when the family goals and dreams are placed front and center, it didn’t matter who was making more. Plus, this has allowed for me to spend time blogging and writing at Panera.

@ Serendipity- Broadening your scope is a great way to add to life and follow some dreams. Thanks for the input.

How about the question what to yo do when meeting someone during on-line dating?
I am personally on disability. Should the answer address that or not? Or, should the answer be towards other subjects. I know that it is meant what is your job since under job I have retired.

  5. I have always found it strange that we feel the need to define ourselves by our jobs. However, I have it easy when it comes to answering “What do you do” . . . I am a stay at home dad. At first I was nervous about answering this questions – as if people would question why a guy was doing this. Most, to my enjoyment, have been much more supportive of what I do.
