I never realized that i actually do nothing a lot. Maybe it is because I know I have anxiety and my body and mind will start to tell me to stop and take it easy. One of my favorite techniques is to lay down on the bed with my legs crossed and prop my pillow comfortably and the stare at the ceiling. I know that sounds funny or crazy. But, I will stare at ever squiggle and all the different textures and how some areas are darker because of the shade in the room and then I will find myself listening to hardly noticeable little noises. Even if I hear my little boy cooing or having a conversation with himself, I am still able to relax like this. Most of the time, I end up falling asleep or getting really hungry...

This is a post that all busy people need to read. We can get so caught up with the fast paced lives we live, we forget to take care of ourselves.

Men especially need to remember to relax and make their health (mental, physical and spiritual) a priority.

@may- Great suggestion may. I'll give your 7-11 a try! Thanks

@Corey- I love all of your suggestions. I tend to do one thing on my list, thinking about the next thing and ens up gritting my teeth and all tensed up. We are trained to always be doing something that it's great to see that times of doing nothing is really healthy for us to do.

I have a difficult time when I am focusing on my breathe. When doing this, I start having trouble breathing (feeling like I need to breath deep but then can't get a good deep breath). Any suggestions there?

Thanks for the great tips. Have a wonderful, do nothing day!

Great suggestions, if not a tad idealistic, a great goal to shoot for. When my Husband and I took a Couples Comm. course together the instructor taught us a "7-11" breathing technique which I've found quite relaxing. Basically it's a seven second inhalation, 11 second exhalation--repeated for 2 minutes. It's amazing how much this can calm you down, expecially after a hectic day at work. In fact, the instructor who taught us this method said she had a couple who claim it helped saved their marriage- as the Husband was so bent from work at the end of the day he'd let it out at home afterward. A two minute pause in the car before coming through the door home helped tremendously.
Give that a try!!
