Great comments everyone! =] Heather, I agree totally. The hardest part about that is we have great intentions when we try to "explain ourselves", but it comes across the wrong way and just makes things worse.

Laurie - It depends on the man, I suppose. I don't have a hard time because I'm so used to apologizing! But seriously, if a man is feeling controlled or like a failure, he might struggle apologizing more.

Family Matters - I'm glad you can now join the naturally good a messing up club!

Them's good advice, originally written by Dale Carnegie, I think, only he was talking to a policeman on horseback. I suppose he too might otherwise be kicked by something otherwise...

I just discovered a positive way to describe my failings: I'm naturally good at it. Good one, Michael!

I really liked how you apologized and asked how you could make it right. An apology goes a long way. Do you think it is more difficult for a man to apologize than a woman? I have noticed this but didn't know if it is just the people I am around.

Number 3 is definitely the hardest for me. I think the reason I try to explain my way out of things is not only to make my husband feel better but mostly to make myself feel better! I figure if I can justify my actions, then they'll have no need to be upset and I'll have no need to feel guilt. That will be a good one to work on for me.
