Also, reminds me of what a childhood friend of mine used to say: “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.”

And, finally, my mother’s wisdom: “Always ask and even if you receive a ‘no’…you’re really not out of anything but a question.”

I have a friend who has a boat. I ask if she would take me out on her boat this summer. Funny because she was in need of someone to go with. He hub was working long hours and couldn’t get away. Yesterday we went and invited two other ladies. We had the most incredible time and my friend wants to do it every week. So asking really paid off!!

I’ve tried to get the free upgrade to first class, after you mentioned that idea to me a while bad but so far…no luck. I’ll keep trying!!

I echo all of the comments. I just bought a high end pair of trousers yesterday. I asked the store owner what kind of deal he could do for me and he reduced them 20%. You just have to ask.

My DH & I have been to Vail several times (spent our honeymoon there)…we love Vail! Enjoy!! Great restaurants in Minturn.

Isn’t it funny how many “rewards” we get by just asking? It could be a seat in first class or our husband cleaning up the kitchen. Being afraid of “no” should not be such a big deal!! I never pass up the opportunity to “ask”.

And thank you for the link to Chris’ blog. My “big birthday”, #50 is this year…we are trying to plan a trip to celebrate. Chris’ blog is a great resource. TY again!

I’m actually in Sunny San Diego, CA! I visited Colorado Springs a few months ago, beautiful Rocky Mtns…those puddle jumper planes out of Denver are scarey though!! Enjoy Vail…haven’t been there yet…

I can’t agree more. This works well in the workplace, too. My colleagues are often amazed at the things I get–simply because I asked for them. As you say, the worst that can happen is people might say no.

Just asking goes for any situation in life. I ALWAYS ask, whether it’s the cost of a hotel, plane fare, when my bags get lost, when my hosting service is interrupted, EVERYTHING. It is truly surprising how often something is offered just by asking. Great post…I always ask, and I never regret it, even if I am not accommodated.

So true about asking…not just when things are going as planned, but as a compensation for things going awry on travel (been there, done that, got compensated for asking).
